Birmingham, Ala. – When I first recognized Nancy Swift on my Facebook page, I had no idea that Nancy was an aunt to a friend I graduated high school with at Lauderdale County. It just goes to show you never know who all is affected by the loss of one person.
Through messages from my former classmate, Emily Flynn, and her mom, Jennifer, I began to get a very good idea of what Nancy meant to her family. It was said that Nancy was a God-loving woman with a heart of gold. While her family and friends grieve this great loss, I know they are taking comfort in what Nancy stood for and the special memories that they have of her. One of Nancy’s co-workers, Lesa Denham, said, “I worked with Nancy and she brought love, light and joy to everything she did. She will be greatly missed.” Nancy was a dedicated nurse at UAB Highlands. As a nurse, I am sure she touched many lives. Personally, I appreciate her taking on that work. Nurses are special people and need to be recognized for the good work that they do.
Being able to dedicate this week’s show is only a small way of keeping Nancy Swift’s memory alive, but I hope that it brings some comfort to the family. You can listen to the dedication below.
