Athens, Ala. – Last Saturday, Caressa Houchins and her husband, Jeremiah, were in a motorcycle accident. Caressa was flown to Vanderbilt Hospital due to severe injuries. After several days in the hospital, it was determined that Caressa was not going to survive. At that point, there was a difficult decision to make. While in good health, Caressa had chosen to be an organ donor and the family chose to honor her wishes. This week, Caressa was recognized during The Mary Faye Headrick Good Deed Segment for her final selfless act. Her choice to give life to others is certainly worth recognizing. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family with funeral expenses. My condolences to the family and friends of Caressa Houchins.
